Litter on verge from Herber layby to Chirk
Litter on the B4500 has been noted and observed. Usually this link is only picked once a year and when we have additional staff released from the refuse service. I will enquire with the refuse manager as to the current staffing level.
Stryt Pentre, Llwynmawr
There are no salt piles between Pentre Garth and the bottom of Stryt Pentre in Llwynmawr. There were but have probably washed away.
Customer service request received and works ticket raised and issued to my operatives - Site visited yesterday with my operative and salt box at the lower end of the hill full and the one at the top more than 3/4 full. Refilled salt heap by a property called Plas Pentre. Unable to consider additional heaps due to the steepness of the verges in places and the available places being near to the existing salt boxes or on private land.
Cadnant Hill, Church Hill and Nantyr Road
Complaint received that roads are very icy. Request for gritter to visit.
Email from the Winter Service Operations Manager outlines the current procedure.
Gritter too large for narrow road. Salt piles replenished on both roads and the top road past Caegwinnion.
Work not yet resumed. Please do you know when the contractor will be back on site?
**** to confirm - currently on annual leave.
Request for double yellow lines on junction of B4500.
Request forwarded to the Traffic & Safety Section, requested they contact to discuss in detail.
Complaint about gritting in Llwynmawr at 3.00 a.m. Could this possibly be carried out a few hours later?
Pre-salting times of the gritting routes are determined by the weather forecast, if it is anticipated that road surface temperatures are to fall below zero at a certain time then the action will usually be planned for 3 hours prior to the event. This is to ensure that the treated sections reach a saline state and that the treatment is effective.
Pennant Farm road
Many potholes in road between Pen Y Bryn and Pennant Farm (last corner before Pennant)
Length of highway recently inspected as part of cyclic inspection schedule and active defect notices for temporary pothole repair works, active defect notice for carriageway resurfacing and works will be considered accordingly. Pothole repairs are taking longer than first anticipated to complete due to the high level of demand and scarce available resources, works are also being programmed in line with a highway network hierarchy system.
A metal road sign post knocked down by a vehicle needs removing/ replacing.
Post has been noted and will be removed as part of the street cleansing exercise.
B4500 between Pontfadog & Dolywern
Litter on verges.
Street cleansing team started clearing litter on the link last Thursday, they have been advised to clear the non-traffic sensitive areas first and identify the locations that require traffic management with regards to safety.
Gypsy Smith's corner (near Castle Mill)
The fallen trees on the bank above the road have slipped further down and leaning on the telegraph pole. Please could you contact landowner again about removing the timber?
Enquiry forwarded to our arbour cultural officer for comment as necessary.
No evidence of further slippage. Currently not a danger to the highway.
